Taking Time Off to get Married
We’re going to be taking a bit of a break from Jobaloo the next few weeks. We’re getting married in California this weekend and then spending a few weeks in Australia.
It’s quite a period of time to be away from work, and it took a lot of planning and finesse with the employers. For my bride to be, it wasn’t as big a deal because she is in the travel business. Part of her job is being familiar with places around the world. In fact, we’re getting good deals because she’ll have to check some things out while on our honeymoon and we’ll be writing about them for the publication for which she works.
For me, it was just a matter of being up front. I don’t have enough vacation time accrued to use, but they’re letting me take the extra time (almost two weeks) without pay. I explained that this was a once in a lifetime trip, and permission was granted. I made sure to get the permission in writing, so that everything would be all nice and neat later on. I appreciate the opportunity that they’ve given me here and things like this make it easy to be loyal to an employer.
For the rest of the month, please check through our fine collection of articles on the main Jobaloo.com page and through the archives of this blog as well. We’ll talk to you when we get back.
